Jordan proved long ago that he is completely shameless. If he hasn't been humiliated by the complete failures of his "weaponization committee" and his Potemkin impeachment investigation, he's un-humiliatable (Hey folks! I invented a new word!!). And now he just has 3 new votes against him in the vote this morning.

While he circles the bowl, so does the country.

How can a Pedo Protector feel any shame???

Ain't gonna happen!

I think we are missing the big picture. The whole idea whether Jordan is speaker or not is to stop government from working until Election Day 2024. This is happening under Biden. Eventually Trump will say “I can get government working again in five minutes” and it will sound right.

We need to inoculate the public to this MAGA strategy. We need to stop pointing out that they can’t get their act together and instead point out they don’t want to work. And they are getting paid 174,000 plus benefits while doing nothing for the taxpayers. Let’s have some outrage.

That’s $75,342,000 a year just in salaries, for nothing (plus staff and expenses).

The three-ring circus inside the clown car keeps careening towards that cliff..........

Nah, that cliff was breached years ago. Like the moment the fat orange one came down those stairs.

The HUGE problem is our country, all of us - RepubliQans, Democrats, Independents, Socialists and even the MAGAts, is in the trunk gagged and handcuffed, while the clown car careens over that cliff.

Of course, the MAGAts are enjoying view as it's a refreshing change from TFG's colon.

I’m not a republican and never have been, but this three ring circus needs to end. I’d actually be comfortable with a republican nominating Cheney at this point, as the interim speaker until the election and democrats voting to confirm her.

I never thought I’d put Cheney in the same sentence as Speaker, but at least we’d get a budget bill passed, military resolution, and aid for Ukraine and Israel. She’s be the best option of all the really bad choices we’re left with.

We can’t continually operate like this. I get it’s good for media ratings and overall profits, but it’s terrible for this country.

Our adversaries never stop conspiring against us. A divided house, is their best weapon and it’s doing more damage to our national security, than all of our adversaries combined.

Just some thoughts...:)

Having just completed "Enough," Cassidy Hutchinson's book, I think people on our side need to re-think our judgements on people.

There will always be a division over how to do things. That's why there's more than one party. What is crucial is that those divisions do not lead to Bad Consequences to the loser of any debate over those divisions, which is what the Constitution is all about.

So, if there are 100 issues, and on 99 of them we are opponents of someone, if the 1 is Do You Suport Our Democratic Constitutional Republic? and the answer is "yes" - then that cancels the other 99 when it comes to deciding whether or not that person is a Good Person.

I've disagreed with Liz Cheney since she first showed up and the disagreement only got stronger over the years. However, viewing her actions since 2020, and reading about what she did and what her role was in Cassidy Hutchinson's braver-than-brave decision to do the right thing, I have revised that disagreement. She and I are opponents. Opponents aren't Enemies.

I suspect that Liz Cheney is less likely to win than Jordan. She torched her career and the freedom caucus will never go for it. But she is also quite toxic to the Dems, so it is really wishcasting.

Honestly, I don't think this will get resolved.

Liz Cheney would not be elected Speaker. I am fairly certain about that.

Fair enough. So who’s left that could possibly be elected speaker? Will they settle for someone like Stefanik? They’re pretty much running out of options?

And let’s face it, Trump won’t be speaker either. So this exercise in futility is getting old and dangerous!

True, but all she’d need is five republicans if the democrats vote for her. And I suspect, at this point, she’d get a lot more than that on the republican side.

She still has friends and is well respected by many in her caucus. Unfortunately, unlike Kinzinger and Cheney, the rest of the party is spineless...:)

The Dems aren't going to go for her. That is truly wishcasting to the extreme

One of Jordan’s advisors should tell him that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I find it hard to believe there is not one single other Republican in the conference they could all unite around. Surely there is someone who is acceptable to everyone, even if not their first, second, or third choice. They need to do their damn job!

I totally agree. But, as we know only too well, that guy never admits a loss. Not part of his DNA. So Jordan has to continue this charade to appease his deity. 'Course, I could be totally wrong and Chris is onto something.

As this clown show goes on within the House republicans, where or who really is the leader of the Party that they all respect. Let him or her (if there is one) come up with an acceptable solution to this chaos. It is really affecting the governing of this Country. We thank God that we a competent President in Joe Biden. He is competently steering the ship along, but he also needs the Legislative branch to do its job.

Joe Biden gave a great speech yesterday after giving another historic one in Isreal.

This is what you get with old age; wisdom and experience.

I'm pretty sure there isn't a leader that they respect. There's the Orange Guy who they fear like the third rail; if they cross him he electrocutes their career. But sanity, wisdom, leadership, gravitas, morals are sadly lacking.

I agree Joe is doing a fine job.

Gym Jordan is a first-class a$$hole. He thinks Biden will cave and direct Jeffries to cave. Biden and Jeffries need to hold fast. Gym Jordan is not qualified to be Speaker.

Expand full comment

You’re completely right! In a Party of HIGHLY unqualified individuals, he is possibly the very LEAST qualified (though Gaetz, MTG, & Boebert aren’t far behind, not that anyone has ever thought of THEM as “leaders”).

And most everyone in the Comment section is also correct that Jordan doesn’t have the self-awareness to be “humiliated”. If he WAS capable of that, he and Comer wouldn’t be continuing with their vain attempt to impeach Biden, after the embarrassment of those sessions. I mean, if Jonathan Turley says you don’t have anything in the way of evidence, and you can buy his opinion for the price of a Sabret’s hot dog on a Manhattan street corner, ‘ya ain’t got nuthin’!

I just don’t know what the end game is.

I moved a significant amount of my investments into a stable value account before the last peak over the edge of market ruination, ie before the last CR, and figured I could move them back by mid-November. Now, I’m just not certain low long they’ll need to stay there....

I doubt that Mr. Jordan considers his efforts to become Speaker in any way humiliating. He's doing what he must to keep Mr. Trump happy, doing his best to get Trump reelected, and then hope to receive a presidential pardon. Much like a few other people who come to mind, he's trying to stay out of jail.

Not only is Jordan & Trump besties, Jordan is listening to Trump and he won’t stop. He will keep going and going, as Chris said he’s in the drivers seat. I do not see that Jordan is publicly humiliated, he has no soul, nos morals. It’s a sick game they are playing. It’s a complete disgrace to our country. What a circus, clown show, cluster.
