I understand the original poster’s comments and have occasionally thought that you veered maybe a little too far on the subject and more regularly writing about Trump. And occasionally, I’ve disagreed with your take on an event, like your post on the importance of Trump’s win in Iowa and your misconstruing of his percentages (a vote for ANYONE other than Trump, when he’s on the ballot, is a non-Trump vote, no matter how “Trump-lite” DeSantis and Haley are, so your comment about Trump getting “80% of the vote” by totaling their numbers into his is simply incorrect).

All of that said, I don’t read your column nor pay to subscribe because I’m looking for “rah rah” for Biden. As you mentioned, there’s plenty of that to choose from on Substack, and I subscribe to many of them. I would, however, like to see more analysis of Biden, other than just parroting polls that are concerned with his age.

It’s a bit of a tightrope to get it right. I’m still here, listening.

Sad that some folks want an equivalency between the two.

That's why Hunter Biden is still a THING.

You think anyone would care about Hunter if Dad wasn't POTUS? He'd be another dirtbag drug addict son of someone we know.

And the best part, the Hunter affair all is about a few million bucks. Not a word about the billions Jared got from the Saudi's. BILLIONS. With a B. From a foreign power that had undue influence in the Trump administration. And murdered a US journalist without any equivalent reaction from the Trump administration. Bet they secretly liked the killing.

But even if Biden is bad (he's certainly not perfect) None of us that support him have ever said anything close to stating Biden is GOD. He's a man, that's all.

When one guy is a distinct threat to our country and world safety, and the other guy is an old guy who occasionally looks and acts really old, there is no equivalence.

I really enjoy how transparent you are in your writing, Chris. This was a very thoughtful response to the question and is a big part of why I read your Substack. It offers a perspective other than just Biden is good and Trump is bad. It's hard to avoid geting stuck in an information silo where everyone is just telling you what you want hear, so I appreciate your approach.

Chris, keep doing what you are doing. I believe most everyone here will agree with me, you are the reason we are here and why many of us have subscribed. We enjoy your insight, your “realness”, you are transparent and give us a lot of who you are. We have followed you from WAPO and/or CNN, happy to have found your journalism. For myself, I know that it’s okay to disagree as long as it is not done in a mean spirited way. We all may not agree, but that is okay. This is a nice community as well and look forward to your writings each day. A heartfelt thank you, Chris!

Trump IS evil. Biden IS the most effective president in a generation (who isn't getting the credit he deserves -- there's a column in that). That said, I'm here as a subscriber because I enjoy YOUR take and analysis. So keep it up.

As for slanting the reporting, I like to quote Stephen Colbert: reality has a well known liberal bias. Simply reporting the facts will annoy Trump supporters. Can't be helped.

Your post is right on the money. You have been fair and balanced, (oops, maybe not the right choice of words). You are not making the news you are analyzing it. If people want to hear only partisan news MSBNC is always doing that.

We pay Chris for his foresight and judgement of what to write about.

Keep it coming brother.

Your item “what I am doing here (Joe Biden)” prompted me to write “why I read this.” Three reasons (in no particular order): 1. I’m a paid subscriber, and I like to get what I paid for. 2. I trust your writing as I was a regular reader of The Fix when you were at the Post. 3. Your posts help me keep perspective; they are not partisan nor always objective—and they shouldn’t be. Sometimes, your views drive me nuts or piss me off (as in “Biden’s age is a problem”). I am 68 and don’t agree. However, over time, I have to admit his age is a problem — for others. Your writing helped me see that. That’s why I read; it’s a good investment

Trump’s aim is to always be the center of attention and in the middle of every story. Biden would rather be behind the curtain, and let other people or other things (his policies, etc.) be the focus. Naturally, there will be more “stuff” to write about with Trump, because he is always creating “stuff” - e.g., the number of posts on his Truth account yesterday.

I have always thought, for Trump, there could not be anything worse than a whole day where there would not one mention of Trump, anywhere.

Therefore, naturally, there will be a lot more to write about Trump than Biden. Never thought about it being a fairness contest....

Agree. Biden simply doesn't do much on a day-to-day basis that is all that interesting or newsworthy, but that's the way I like my president.

The fact that you have to write a “what I’m doing here” post every few weeks because someone complains is super annoying. You’ve made very clear at this point what your goal is with your blog.

I think you're guilty of the same thing most of the MSM is. Trump is interesting in a horrible way, and Joe is boring. Anybody who reads your column or watches MSNBC knows how you and your readers/watchers feels. Why not write an article about what Joe does day after day to keep us and the world sane and safe. The amount of ink spilled on Trump would fill an ocean. He's still the same POS, regardless of what day it is, or what his latest daily atrocity is.

I read Politico. They publish President Biden's daily schedule. At 80 years old, I'm astonished and impressed by what he does every day. How about a little more love for Joe? Rodney Dangerfield: he gets no respect. And he should. Dump the Trump articles. We've heard it all and are exhausted by it. There's nothing new there.

THANK YOU!! (Though, I might like you to be a LITTLE more of “a policy wonk”.) The news is NOT fair. The news is NOT balanced. The news is the news. And anyone who tries to tell you that it should be fair and/or balanced, is looking for an agenda to prop up, not “the news”.

Great post Chris. Yes, you could have MORE subscribers, but I think you would have DIFFERENT subscribers (for one, I wouldn’t be interested). You’ve built something special here. Keep going.

Chris, I welcome what your newsletter is doing…So What is providing exactly what I want! As you say, there is not much going on with the Dems right now and the Repubs continue to create concerns that beg analysis. When OUR President generates something of issue, I’ve seen you take that on! Keep up the good fight!

I choose the places I get my information from because they often give me a point of view that makes me think. (One of the reasons I loved your old podcast so much!) That's not to say I watch Faux News to get an alternate point of view - they're just a firehose spewing misinformation/lies. I do prefer to hear plenty of things I agree with because that makes the different ideas go down more easily. You do that, and very well. Plus, I looove your "27 Crazy Things Donald Trump Said Yesterday."
