Her hiring by NBC is full, in your face evidence that NBC has subsumed truth telling for what they hope will be higher ratings. That premise is laughable. Do they really think Trumpers are going to watch MSNBC now because the person who Trump removed as RNC chair now appears on that network?. What is more likely is that MSNBC will lose viewers from their core audience who will, rightly, protest the hiring of this Trump apologist. Ronna is a disgusting hypocrite who should not be allowed anywhere near a legitimate news organization. The fact that NBC/MSNBC hired her has knocked their legitimacy down a peg or two in my opinion

Chris

You NAILED IT! i can't believe any reputable TV show has her as a commentator. My only question...where do i get a gig like that? Ronna is the worst kind of human. I remember signing a controversial faculty letter WHEN I DID NOT HAVE TENURE, it was the right, moral thing to do. Many of us, every day, do hard things. I am flummoxed that these people are not held to account. oy vey

Absolutely! I am sick of hearing the standard GOP responses of "I haven't see/heard that comment" or echoing the false claims of election problems in 2020 all have been debunked by smart people over and over and over again. It's time to grow a backbone, and stand up to the former President and his falsehoods.

She is a poor excuse for an American and an even poorer excuse for a human being.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and political beliefs.

But not everyone is entitled to be hired by a leading national network and be given a platform.

She muffed her chance to redeem herself a long time ago.

There are plenty of trumpf loyalists who said, "Enough is enough, I can't stay and support him any longer!"

But poor Ronna stayed until she was forced out, still dancing on the deck of the sinking ship, until Teflon Don tossed her overboard.

Sorry Ronna, nobody believe you now. You should have listened to Uncle Mitt.

This woman is reprehensible. She has no moral compass or internal set of values. And NBC is likewise for hiring her. I am proud of Chuck Todd, Joe S and others who are likewise calling BS. I can’t wait to hear what Nicolle, Ari, Joy, Chris and Rachel have to say about it this evening. I wonder how come she didn;t go to Fox? That is her true environment.

Agree, Chris. However, I am just becoming so unbelievably disgusted with all that is going on with anyone associated with the GOP. First of all, McDaniel should not have been hired by NBC, IMO. Secondly, to not come out and say she does not believe that there was any wrongdoing with the 2020 election, Biden won fair and square, is downright disgusting. Let alone, the other lies she spews or mealy mouth answers. Ugh.

Two things:

1) To quote a famous Substacker: "There are some things where 'I was just following orders' is indefensible." I could be wrong, but wasn't this already adjudicated at Nuremberg?

2) "Bullshit" twice in as many posts (and a third "BS" to boot). Mercy! I'm so proud of you...

Chris, I am loving the shade at adding the "Romney" back to her name.

I might ask it as a mailbag question or the chat, but I wanted to get your thoughts on what Chuck Todd had to say. I know you were indifferent to Ronna's hiring, but I thought he did a phenomenal job of laying bare, on his own network nonetheless, about why it was a horrible idea. A really ballsy thing to do and I was so impressed that he said it.

Yes, there should be consequences.....and her consequence is that her job offer at NBC should be cancelled. I have written the heads of NBC urging the to do this and threatening to never watch another NBC platform.

the bottom line. “Republicans lied. We knew we were lying. We knew Biden won and we knew J6. it was an insurrection. We continue to lie because it is a team of liars.”

Taking one for the team does not begin to answer for selling your soul for a despicable human being like Trump!

I completely agree. I have no issue with her getting a media deal. I DO have a problem with a version of her that now condemns what she was silent about while at the RNC. I respect people who have a moral compass that functions the same at all times in all situations. She failed a critical test of leadership when she chose expediency over integrity. There should be a consequence.

There seems to be a lot of political contributors on the mainstream networks such as MSNBC, CNN, Fox, etc. I just wished these organizations would hire new and recently fired journalists to help focus on other areas such as investigative journalism, local news, international news, etc. I don't want to come home every night and turn on the news channels just to hear what Ronna McDaniel thinks of this years election or for that matter even Terry McAuliffe. I think that feeling is the same for most ordinary people as well.

Our main recourse is to change the channel!

As with most things in life, it’s all about the money. NBC hoping to increase viewership at the complete expense of any journalistic ethic standards. Count me as a lost viewer to their news network.

I sense NBC has a lot to answer for regarding this hiring decision. It would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall in the room when the team discussed the pros and cons of hiring her - I would like to understand their true justifications. She really does not add any insights - she was not very close to Trump, ever. Further, Ronna was probably on the list of people who might have been indicted in Georgia for her role in helping the fake elector scheme. Ronna was an order taker - nothing more; she mostly did what others told her to do. And based upon her defense, she is not capable of thinking on her own. Maybe someone thought she could team up with Michael Steele to discuss the similarities of their roles in the RNC - what a joke that would be.

My sense is she is badly in need of a paycheck, and needed to land somewhere for her own wellbeing rather quickly. Think she has put herself in a very uncomfortable position.

Truth be told - people make bad hiring decisions all the time, bringing in people with good skills for roles which do not fit those skills. This one seems like NBC completely missed the mark.
