An assassination attempt on Donald Trump

I was at a soccer camp at Georgetown University when I heard the news: Donald Trump had left the stage at a rally in Pennsylvania bleeding from his ear.

Here’s what we know:

• This is being investigated as an assassination attempt

  

• The shooter and a rally attendee are dead

• Trump was taken to the hospital and, according to a statement from his campaign, is “fine.”

I would urge EVERYONE to take a deep breath. Be careful with what you share. Stay away from engaging in conspiracy theories. Don’t jump to conclusions just because they fit your partisan preferences.

This event will obviously have massive political consequences. It just will. I will get to all of that — and bring it to you. But, for now, let’s wait and see what the facts show. And then go from there.
