Tim Scott getting married to become Trump's vice president is impressive levels of toadying.

Alben Barkley was a widower while serving as Truman's veep, but married while in office.

I don't know why people are sleeping on North Carolina. It's a state that always is close and the GOP is running an incredibly toxic candidate for governor. I think Democrats should be as aggressive as possible and win the state back.

I think there's a strategy by the Democrats in making a play for Texas and Florida. They want to make the Republicans spend money there trying to defend the states. And we all know that the Republicans and Trump are in trouble with money now. The Republicans grass root is tired of being fleeced by Trump and the big Donors are smart enough to know that it's not good investment.

I agree North Carolina is a possibility. Obama won there , and there has been a steady stream of Northeastern migration. In general, the Rs in NC are like those in GA and not as infected by the Trump virus . I also think the lunatic the Rs have nominated for Gov in NC might hurt Trump . Obama also won Ohio, but it has been getting more red with each cycle. I worry for S Brown, who is a great Senator. But the Rs also just nominated a sketchy candidate in Ohio. So there is hope for Brown. A Biden win there would really be a pleasant shock, however.

That we have β€œswing states” is atrocious. That said, for now it is what we have . It may be our undoing. And Tim Scott getting married at 58 years of age while jockeying for a VP spot…yeah, sure.

Oh, I'm in NC, and I predict we're going for Biden in November. We've got this Republican candidate for governor who opposes women voting, among other vote-getting positions. He is going to drive up opposition to Republicans even further in this state. Obama won here in 2008, and the people who move here tend to be liberal.

Texas is not a swing state but Biden-Harris campaign will be smart to expand the map to Lone Star.

Biden-Harris investment in Texas will be complemented by one of the most expensive Senator races in β€˜24 of an unpopular Ted Cruz facing a great fundraiser former NFL player Allred and polls show a competitive race so far.

Indicted Trump is rarely getting 48% approval in Texas and his 6% lead in 2020 was less than the 9% lead in 2016.

Biden-Harris campaign in Texas: Go for!

Trump leads by 5. NV only has 6 electoral college votes. Spending the money in the other, larger states makes more sense.

Agree that NC is the most likely expansion front. It's at least possible (though unlikely IMHO) that the Republicans might wrong foot themselves badly trying to defend Robinson to hurt Trump enough (maybe boosting turnout among soft Ds and D-leaning indies?).

Sadly, Florida is largely MAGA country. The DNC should marshal all of their resources into PA, MI, WI, GA, and NC. Forget about TX, NV, and FL.

I am not in touch with Florida politics beyond DeSantis, but are voters there digging his vibe after crawling back home? I'm not hearing a lot on that front, so my inclination is to say that if people are not digging DeSantis, or if he even mildly attacks Trump, that state could be in play. Not sure about Texas either, but it's hard to say how galvanized people there might be with border and abortion issues.

I'm interested to know more about that Yglesias chart. But there's no cite that I can see on his Tweet.
