Hurt feelings are sometimes the price we have to pay to maintain our freedoms. Biden has to go. Trump must be defeated. No one man is more important than the future of the country.

Biden is an absolute disgrace now. His behavior is simply contemptible and demonstrating a deep lack of judgment. He’s been a successful president, but I now don’t even think he should be president anymore. Forget about age — the lack of judgment on its own is deeply troubling. The fact that hunter is now one of his closest advisors is in itself almost disqualifying.

Expand full comment

Perfect assessment. There might be something more wrong medically, but many people diagnose Biden as chronically obstinate.

Expand full comment

Lack of judgment is a really compelling point. Regardless of who is in the Administration, the PRESIDENT decides…. If the President’s judgment is compromised, that’s yet another powerful argument for Biden to step aside before his legacy ends up in ruins.

Don’t be so dramatic

Just support the ticket what ever it ends up to be.

Expand full comment

That’s a given. But I’d rather have a ticket that has an actual chance of winning.

And to be clear, asking for competent, well-advised leadership is not “being dramatic”.

I’m afraid simple old working class Scranton Joe has now fallen so much in love with having valets present perfectly pressed clothes and spit shined shoes every morning that he loves all of that sideshow more than he hates the so often discussed threat to democracy.

WHAT OFFICIALS? The party are all saying they are behind him. The people don't care as long as a dictator doesn't get in. The Biden administrator have shown they have the chops to turn America around and create something good for the country. Biden is one man, with a darn good team behind him. Social media is getting as bad as mainstream in present comments with no proof to back it up.

Expand full comment

Is it too much to ask to vote for a president that can communicate coherently? Do you really think Biden will last four years?

Expand full comment

It doesn't matter if he does. Kamala is just as capable of continuing the fight against Trumps horrific future for America. Americans are learning about Project 2025. The more they learn the less they will trust Trump.

Over 70% think Joe is unfit. 60% of Ds want him off the ticket. It's not about media- social or mainstream.People don't think he's up to an effective campaign, much less another 4 years. Are you saying you don't see how diminished he is? You want to blame someone? Blame Joe. He promised to be a transitional figure. He could have announced his intention not to run a year ago, and then we would have had an orderly primary. He could have acknowledged the tides against him a month ago. Under those scenarios, he'd have dignity and a great legacy, both of which he deserves.

Unfit is one thing, but they also know the other guy is dangerous. 51% of Americans are women Roe v Wade is a factor. The same percentage of men to women have fertility issues, IVF is a factor. Mass shootings and no action are a factor. PROJECT 2025 is a huge factor.

Expand full comment

All true, and that's why there is reason for hope if we get a candidate with the ability to deliver the message. I agree with you re the importance of women's issues in this cycle. I'd like to think women - Ds and Independents - would rally around a woman at the head of the ticket. It's crazy we haven't had a woman POTUS while so many countries have had women leaders.

When he ran four years ago, he certainly gave off the vibe that he was going to be a one term president.

I feel like he went back on his word and it’s his fault we’re now stuck in this awful process of trying to push him out.

Expand full comment

True. ALL TRUE, but you are now 4 months away from an election. Most Americans I've read from and about, intend to vote blue even if MAJOR was up for the presidency. They know the danger to their lives.

Expand full comment

Yes, almost all solid Ds will vote for anyone D against Trump. But registered Ds are only about 30-35% of voters. You need independents and swing voters. Some may just stay home b/c neither candidate appeals to them. Some vote on perceptions of strength. All indications are Joe just can’t win enough of those votes. As far as the timing, it’s a challenge. But there were campaigns in the past when there was no clear candidate until the convention. The UK , France, and other countries have much shorter campaigns. And in this era of mass media , it’s easier than ever to get messages out. So I understand your concerns. I share them. But I think Joe just can’t get the job done , so we need to try something different.

Expand full comment

Absolutely spot on about the voters beyond the base. 👍🏻

Expand full comment

I’m not sure that I agree. All of the swing states except for Wisconsin have now swung to +Trump. And the number of swing states has increased from 6 to 13. New York and New Hampshire are in play, for God’s sake. What more do you need to know to acknowledge that Biden cannot beat Trump.

It’s not the “blue heart 💙💙💙” crowd that you need to worry about It’s independent voters and persuadable Republicans who will who hold the key to the election - and they aren’t voting for Biden.

Polls also had Biden losing last election. Polls are not an indication any more, as they are so easily manipulated.

I'll make a note here. I am not American. I'm Australian. What worries me is the effect to my country and other democracies around the world if Trump wins and dictatorship of the USA takes over. We have allowed ourselves to be influenced by the "strength" of the USA. That is our own stupidity and we will have to deal with the fall out. However after France and the UK, I have great faith (for an atheist) that America will also remain a free country, not a theocratic led dictatorship.

You win the prize for least compelling argument of the day. To think that we would willingly vote for a candidate to be president when we know there is only a slim chance that he will be alive by the end of the term and zero chance that he will be sentient by then, on the basis of the vice president might be OK, is ludicrous.

Expand full comment

Biden is just a person, so is Trump. Vote on policy not person. How hard is that.

Expand full comment

How hard is it? So hard that it is literally impossible to have a person with obvious significant mental impairments elected President on the basis that a group of unelected political appointees will make sure everything is OK. One person and one person alone has the capacity to launch nuclear weapons in the U.S. That clearly cannot be Biden.

We aren’t a parliamentary democracy, where all cabinet ministers are elected members of parliament from the party in power. And you should understand that Vice President is a do nothing job with no defined role and almost zero responsibilities. Harris’ list of accomplishments as VP is as short as the list of primary delegates she won in 2020. Zero.

If Biden remains the candidate it now appears quite likely that the Democrats will lose the White House. Even worse, the down ballot implications could also cost them control of both the House and the Senate in Congress. Ergo the panicky meltdown we are witnessing among Dem members of Congress here.

It sure as hell can't be Trump. He'd sell them to the highest bidder.

That’s why he has a vp to take over. He was only doing one term till Trump decided to run to stay out of prison.

She could take over now or later.

“The party”?

Pelosi, Obama, Schumer, Jeffries, an accelerating number of Senators and Congressmen, etc clearly aren’t with him. The progressive mainstream media has abandoned him…..

So who is with him? Unelected people whose jobs are contingent on their relationships with Biden and who won’t have passes into the White House if he steps aside.

They may be Democrats but they certainly aren’t the Party.

To any folks who think Joe should stay in, I ask you to consider the anger that some folks express here and in social media about Joe's refusal to keep his promise to be a transitional figure or to acknowledge reality now. My guess is that most of these people are so committed to beating Trump that they'd get past those feelings and vote for Joe. But Independents and swing voters I talk to share that anger and , IMO, are much less likely to get over it enough to vote for Joe. Hate for Trump alone can't get us the win. We need some enthusiasm and a candidate who can prosecute the case against Trump.

I think Biden may bow out this weekend. There has been reporting that privately, he’s contemplating it, even though his campaign is publicly saying they’re in it for the long haul. If Biden is not out by Monday though, this is going to get extremely ugly.

Expecting an announcement very soon, Joe will state he’s accomplished so much, if fact everything he set out to do blah blah blah. To use Chris’ metaphor, and turn the keys to the car over to who, KH?? O my! She is a far worse candidate than a tired old JB and that’s his reluctance to leave. Democrats can now see a light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately it’s an oncoming train!
