He does realize that on paper primarying Massie could put KY-04 in play. Beshear only narrowly lost that district twice due to carrying the two biggest counties, Kenton and Campbell in Northern Kentucky.
The MAGA Mob get their panties in a bunch whenever non-MAGA (read: reasonable intelligent patriots) compare the Trump Regime to Nazi Germany (without the Holocaust)
But the comparison is so spot on when the sure and swift retribution if one has the temerity to stand up to the MAGA bullies or listen to any of Trump's shrill speeches where threats come off his tongue as easily as the plethora of lies.
Worse yet, was the 100% unconstitutional and chilling arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, the permanent resident of the US with an American wife (who is 8 months pregnant) who was whisked away by the Trump Gestapo....er....ICE, because Mr. Khalil had the temerity to speak out against the slaughter of Palestinians by Israel.
More arrest are promised by King Trump.
To anyone who thinks the warnings from us with our eyes wide open that American democracy is being destroyed right before our eyes....you are a fool.
The erosion of Tesla’s stock price demonstrates the power of populism when it goes south. Trump’s value diminishes if his actions erode Congressional Republican votes. As Massie points out. Massie’s brand is stronger than Trump’s brand. We are likely getting close to the point when Republican politicians have a calculation to make. Buck Trump to risk a primary but ensure reelection.
Wiping out retirement accounts, increasing unemployment with his base, and removing their healthcare, something even Bannon is concerned about, is undermining Trump’s brand.
As long as the Republican party continues to worship Trump and support him with 90% approval, Trump is right...he can threaten all Republicans into submission.
Here’s the problem with MAGA: There is no end goal other than chaos. I mean, tell me I’m wrong. How about every leader in the world pledging their allegiance to Trump? Is that enough? Tell me what success looks like for Trump. It’s never going to be enough. The only question is, how bad does it have to get for the rest of us, and MAGA, because they’re like the meme with the dog in the burning building, they’ll still say everything is fine and it’s all the fault of the libs. But in all seriousness, tell me how it ends. What does it take for Trump to stand up and say, ‘That’s it, I’ve done everything I set out to do. You’re welcome?’I think the rational among us already know the answer to that
Chris -- not the first or last threat we will see -- like any Mafia leader, those usually work until they don't, when the damage is more evident in the streets, when the calculation changes, that's when they will go "states evidence" -- only in this case, it will to the American people wounded in the streets who will be the jury.
Remember the old saying, “Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line.” The other thing to remember is that intimidation only works if you let it. For the past decade, Republicans have repeatedly capitulated to Trump, but his threats have had the opposite effect on our neighbors and (former) allies.
A threat of being primaried (I hate that that noun has morphed into a verb), only works on people who put their own job and hope for power above service to the country. Sadly, that is almost the entire Republican Party. Trump obviously doesn’t realize the high compliment he paid Massie by putting him in the same sentence as Liz Cheney.
Chris a couple of questions. First, when you and Chuck Todd discussed this, it was mentioned that the closing of the government was not quite as significant because of what is now exempted (e.g. military). So why do you think it is so important for Trump to not shut it down? Second, are there any Republicans that have already announced or may do so that they will not run in 2026?

This is some deep in the weeds KY electoral map knowledge. I'm a fan of it.

Trumps threats only work if they hurt you.

That guy LaCivita is pretty despicable…or is it just me….

Trump threats have proved effective 95 per cent of the time. He picks em off one at a time—-see 2016 presidential primary.

House passed the bill, no worries. Everyone knew they would fall in line…..

Technical comment: Your audio today sounded like you were underwater.
Kudos to Massie!

Past is not necessarily prologue this time. Too many people are being seriously hurt by his policies. Only time will tell.
