I agree: no Cult Members minds are going to be changed (that’s why they’re cult members and not just people with a “different viewpoint”), but independents and disaffected Republicans in 6 or 7 swing states are the key to who wins or loses in November (which is highly disappointing to a Californian like me, given that we’re the 5th largest economy in the world and comprise 40M citizens, but are virtually insignificant in the Electoral College scheme…).

First, because, as you have said, he has had the learning curve of the first term and will be much more careful about ensuring acolytes at all critical positions. Second, because I think he is somewhat like a wounded animal. During the first term, it felt just like another one of his grifts that he was going to get away with unscathed. But now the system has been pushing back against him, for the first time in his life, and he is behaving like a cornered sociopath. Very dangerous
I've been saying that Trump is about to discover that being a criminal defendant on trial is very different from a civil lawsuit. He's not going to like it.
The most important things to remember about Trump is that he promises a bloodbath if he loses and retribution if he wins. TRUMP=VIOLENCE IN AMERICA and once in power authoritarians have purges and disappearances including of their followers that they are paranoid about.
