I don't understand the pro-life people. If YOU don't want to have an abortion, then don't have one. But stop telling others how to live their lives.
We have a friend whose 16 year old daughter (a high school dropout) just found out that she was pregnant. The mom had warned her not to get pregnant, because she could not afford to raise the kid herself and frankly didn't want to. There are times when an abortion might be the best one of some bad options. Regardless, politicians should stay out of it.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is coming in from DC to tell you that you should totally amend your state constitution to protect it from wealthy out of state interests.... starting this Wednesday.
So this has nothing to do with the article but it caught my eye.
'Ann D. Gordon, of the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony Papers project, said that Anthony "never voiced an opinion about the sanctity of fetal life ... and she never voiced an opinion about using the power of the state to require that pregnancies be brought to term.'
I was astonished to read there is a Pro Life group using her name. And then to be the donors of funds to support their cause when the legislators warned of 'wealthy out-of-state interests,'!
These Republican groups really think the liberal mind can not read.
An anti-abortion bill? Fine. OK, lets pay for it. Lets see the billion dollars to fund raising babies born with birth defects. Lets see the billion dollars to fund prenatal care for mothers who did not plan to become mothers. Lets see the billion dollars to pay for food stamps for the mother and child. Lets see the billion dollars to pay for childcare so the mother can get a job or finish her education. If the mother could pay for all these things herself, she could also pay to go out of state or even out of country to get an abortion. Anti-abortion laws only affect the less wealthy, which makes them discriminatory.
The purpose was to prevent citizens from using the initiative process to overcome the far right wing crazy laws that the extremely-gerrymandered Ohio House and Senate have rammed through against the wishes of the majority of the people of Ohio. Recall that this is the home of totally corrupt former Speaker of the House Householder who worked a $60M bribery scheme to give Wall Street shareholders $1.5B from Ohio citizens -- and was then re-elected. The Republican party here is totally corrupt, and the initiative process in the only check on them.
I’ve said it all along ... overturning Roe was a terrible political move for the Republicans ... no need for the anti-abortion people to show up at the polls

It ALWAYS comes down to religion. I hate that.
For Republicans- overturning Roe v Wade is the epitome of “be careful what you wish for”

Yeah, if there’s anything Republicans hate it’s wealthy, out-of-state interests.

As a Quaker, I am offended that they have co-opted her name.

HaHa Republicans! America is WOKE WOKE WOKE, and we know what you're up to!
I always enjoy when something happens and I think "I'd love to get Chris' take on this" and then boom, a column appears.
If you're a Republican, why would you want to make it harder for your own resolutions to pass? The issue made no sense.
