Under the circumstances, I think Kamala Harris has actually been a pretty darn good candidate. She came out of the chute and came out of a hole and turned the race around immediately. I suppose she is burdened somewhat by positions she's taken in the past but what candidate isn't? The press seems to dwell on her changes, though. Trump doesn't have any positions he truly believes in except, I suppose, tariffs.
Chris is just echoing the MAGA talking points about Harris. I will not put any stock into what he says( mediocre etc) about Harris. And millions will not either.
You often write about CNN. Please, as a former Washington Post employee, write about the awful, horrifying turn of events at the Washington Post today in permanently giving up its editorial endorsement for the presidency. The timing, the closeness of the election, the recent news about fascism and Trump, and everyone's profound doubts about how the Washington Post's management has recently changed, in concert with what happened at the LA Times about its endorsement, are for the first time making me want to give up a subscription that goes back to before the Watergate era. I also think Bob Woodward should quit the paper. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm also curious to hear what Chris has to say about this. In his post this evening, The Bulwark's Jonathan V Last, a writer I started reading because Chris spoke highly of him, slammed The Post's decision and reports that the decision came from Bezos himself. So I am quite curious if Chris still thinks that 'guardrails' will prevent Trump from becoming a full-on dictator when, according to Last, Bezos' capitulation is a sign that the guardrails are already crumbling.
Really love the question and response about W. As a Dallasite, he pops up at least once a year at an SMU game, people see him workout at Cooper Aerobics Center, run into him occasionally while at a local watering hole......and by all accounts he's gracious and down to earth. I think his retreat from public life has helped him rehab his image, amongst Dems, and has really allowed him(I believe) to live at peach with himself and his time in public life.
And what does he really have to gain from endorsing Harris? Ramped up security and death threats for/toward his family? I 100% understand why he has stayed on the sidelines.
Ya. He absolutely does have Secret Service protection! But....given what we've seen out the Secret Service lately.....do you blame him for possibly being worried about his or his extended family's safety?
And, you are NOT wrong, Id love for him to make the principled stand for American freedom/democracy. But I can't necessarily blame him for sitting this one out.
Wait, you cannot get away with simply claiming "pizza" as a favorite food. On a New York-style round pizza, what are your two go-to toppings? You can say "double" something, or choose two different, but it cannot be one topping or three. Which two?
Hi Chris. You responded to my question this morning about Trump’s Hitler comments. Yes CNN and MSNBC shows and people and panelists were absolutely decrying it. But the online footprint was not seen. There were articles about what Kelly said but huge headlines about Hitler was not. To me anyone admiring Hitler is disgusting. Talking about a fascist doesn’t ring the same. I am not sure everyone understands what a fascist is. Hitler = Antisemistism as well. And that certainly should be spoken about but is not.
Hi Chris, thanks for the advice about not getting too worked up during the last 10 days or so of the election. I find that’s EXACTLY what I’ve been doing! Part of me wants to completely avoid all news because it gives me so much anxiety, but realize that’s not wise. My husband and I are newly retired and I’m scared to death that our financial stability is in jeopardy because everything just seems so volatile right now. Thank you helping us navigate this scary time.
"After the 2020 miss — polls underestimated Trump’s performance at the swing state and national level — pollsters insisted they had figured it out. That they knew what went wrong and how to fix it."
But isn't it likely not going to be that close in the electoral college? Whoever is really ahead is probably going to carry almost all of the swing states, even the ones they didn't need to win. That's why when you looked at Nate Silver's model, the average Kamala Harris electoral vote total for all the simulations is like 276, because when she wins she normally gets 300+ electoral votes.

He already has Secret Service protection. It's about doing the right thing and showing moral courage.
We fought two wars over American freedom and democracy, yet he won't do the same thing when it's threatened at home.

I don't know if I want to use the word blame, but it's certainly disappointing.
Totally get that sentiment Sam.
Correct.

Me = Italian sausage + mushrooms (canned, not fresh)
Compared with Trump, Chris, you really think Harris is mediocre? That’s very funny.

NewsNation? Really. I am very surprised.

They air clips of it, but you should watch Vince's interview with Armen Ketayan.

Thank God they gave him media training or heavily medicated him when he did interviews after Benoit died.
