I keep wondering why Haley is in this race, and I cannot wait for the mailbag to pose this question. Do you think she's holding out that the supreme court will uphold the Colorado court decision that makes him ineligible via the 14th amendment? I mean it's one hell of a Hail Mary play, but she would technically be the only person still in the running on the Republican side if Trump is found to be ineligible to be president because he incited and has given aid to those who have acted in, an insurrection. Does she think she can hold on long enough for SCOTUS to decide this case? Oral arguments are early in February. If a decision can be written up before South Carolina primary, and she's the only candidate left, she is primed to sweep SC and Super Tuesday?

Or is there some other reason she's staying in this race?

From your typing fingers to Gods ear! We can only hope that Haley goes hard against Trump. Even changing a few minds, or have people thinking that Trump is not fit to be president, is a start. Trump needs to be stopped. I do hope that Haley realizes that she has no real path to the nomination and uses this time to her advantage, as well as the country’s.. Buckle up, this is going to be one nasty ass campaign until November.

She won't. She's not a "moderate." She's a rightwing Republican who will end up (like Sununu) endorsing Trump against Biden. I have far more respect for a conservative like Adam Kinzinger who recognizes what's at stake in this election and says he'll take Biden over Trump.

Haley will kiss the golden or orange colored ring soon. Republicant’s have no morals.

They will be able to watch the orange Mussolini lose another election and they did nothing to stop it.

Good points. There’s no hesitancy in making Biden’s age an issue, but how come no one’s taking issue regarding the age of the petulant 2-y/o tantrum-prone candidate the GOP insists upon running?

Some are, but then are labeled as "threats to democracy" or "leftist liberal radicals" by Trump and his acolytes.

Let's hope she has the courage to continue speaking out against the orange menace. Fingers crossed.

Oh today the United Autoworker union endorsed Biden .Can you comment and analyze what this endorsement means or does not mean for the 2024 election. I know you said you are not interested in Biden's White House and his policies. This is not policy, it's politics.

I think the readers of this Newsletter should resign themselves to the fact that they are going to be fed with a daily diet of what the ''voters re saying about Biden's age and alleged mental fitness''. It may be directly or indirectly like today. If you say or write often enough about it people may start believing it. Remember the Clinton's email saga and how Chris wrote about it in the Washington Post?.(some 50 times!!). That strategy is not going to work this time. Biden and Trump are both old. One is a decent human being and you know who. Biden is going to win in 2024

Haley will hang on until the money runs out. She will run in South Carolina. It is probably too late to turn her campaign into an actual contest against Donald J Trump…..which could have been interesting. It will probably be Trump vs. Biden….but with Trump’s terrible physical and mental condition, and his sketchy legal status, anything could happen. Biden is older yes, but he is still compos mentis . This is going to be a weird year.

Only one president in modern times has completely fabricated his annual medical report, down to his height and weight.

Why not have a team of medical professionals vouch for each man's general physical health and mental acuity with an independent exam?

Would either man agree to this? I'll bet the one in the Oval Office would. There is ZERO chance Trump would agree.

Nikki Haley has all-but-kissed the ring. In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Haley said she would endorse and support DJT if she drops out of the race because “I don’t want to see a President Kamala Harris. That should send a chill up everyone’s spine.”

She did go on to say that people don’t want a Biden-Trump re-match, which appears to be true, but to say it’s OK to accept a lying narcissist with dictatorial ambitions anyway sends a chill up my spine.

I hope Haley goes scorched earth on Trump. Would he even know how to react to being criticized like that? But even if she does, more than likely she'll see the writing on the wall next month and drop out, then kiss the ring and endorse #SwampyDon. That's what Republicans do.

Au contraire, (call me naive) I still think that Trump and Haley have some sort of side deal whereby she becomes his VP pick. In my humble opinion, she is the only one that could make enough independents vote for Trump and possibly bring him across the finish line. Although it is scarry to consider he might win it is his best chance.

She will get crushed in South Carolina and will then, like all others before her with the exception of Chris Christie and Asa Hutchinson, bow before her Orange leader and announce her support of him. It's as inevitable as tomorrow's sunrise.

Will Nikki choose in the next month to campaign with her primary interest preserving her political viability during Trump's lifetime (1-10 years) OR of our country? We'll be finding out together. Will she confront SC voters with his age, worrisome memory lapses and her comparative strengths to his weaknesses (such as he must pay at least $5m damages for defaming a woman that a jury of fellow Americans found that he'd sexually abused -- and then he continued to reoeatedly defame her while he was a declared candidate for POTUS in 2024). Is that disqualifying for a critical mass of conservative women and 2020 Trump voters? What about charges that Trump created a conspiracy with two aides to obstruct justice to defy/refuse compliance with a federal subpoena to return 30+ classified documents containing national defense information that he took to Mar-a-Lago from the White House while he was President?

I think this campaign will be a litmus test for Republicans like Haley to show whether they are true patriots in a national crisis or whether they will choose party over country. I give credit to Chris Christie for his courage. I hope Haley, Sununu and others follow suit
