In my mind you have to throw out the pardon and this is why I say that. Tell me the last president who did NOT pardon someone on their way out that raised your eyebrows…some criminal or family member or whatever. There are plenty of other things to judge him on…both good and bad. Just my .02 worth…

I think he will be remembered as a good man who tried his best and left the country in good shape, economically. Unfortunately, he got too old for the job. He also ran into a loud mouth huckster who is impossible to outshout.

Like virtually all other politicians, Biden will be remembered mostly for the bad stuff. Afghanistan, the pardon of his kid, the slurring and stuttering, the bumping into things, as Senator his stormy temper. Among historians he will be remembered better for his diplomacy and accomplishments as Senator, VP, and POTUS, of which there are many.

Just like Bill Clinton will not be remembered for balancing a budget and other economic achievements, but for Monica Lewinsky and being impeached for lying about it. Obama balanced a budget and started the ACA, but will be stained for his poor foreign policy and bad bipartisanship.

But I loved Joe Biden; he had his faults as POTUS, but his overall tenure in politics deserves high praise, at least from where I stand. I hope he can become like a Jimmy Carter, live to be 100 and better remembered for his bipartisanship and effort to get stuff done. Plus for his courage after facing the tragic losses of 3 dear family members.

Joe Biden will not be remembered well in history and it’s really unfortunate how his term came to a close. I recently watched a PBS Frontline documentary on Joe Biden. It was really well done. His career of getting knocked down and getting back up is inspiring. Ending the way it is, unbelievably bad debate, those lying and covering up for him, the circumstances surrounding the pardon of Hunter, his parties coup to remove him from the ticket, Jill Biden relentlessly pushing him, and finally JB ultimately making a path forward for DJT to return to the White House. All these things were really out of his control will likely be what people remember of his time in the presidency.

It so unfortunate Joe Biden’s career is ending the way it is.

Wow, Dutch!

Thank you for a fine commentary. I will have to watch a re-broadcast of Frontline.

I think that Biden will be considered the George HW Bush of the (early) 21st Century. A good man who started strong, averaged mediorcre, and ended poorly. Shame that he'll be most remembered for reneging on his promised to be a one-term President, self-immolating during his debated with Trump, and having to be dragged kicking-and-screaming from the ticket.

Best answer is when?

6 months, 2 years, 10 years.

I suspect he will get similar treatment as Jimmy Carter. Real bad in the beginning and much better as the ramifications of his post Covid decisions and recovery come out.

He's never going to overcome the pardon.

It’s way too early to be asking this question.

That should be a good convo. Please ask DL how we are supposed to see Biden as anyone other than the guy who stupidly and selfishly let his own ego cost the Dems the election and ushered in a 4 year American hellscape. Thx.

I really enjoyed the conversation. Thanks for doing the live talk.

Biden will be remembered as the last American President. He had notable accomplishments despite being undermined by MAGAts and a corrupt Supreme Court, We have transitioned to a morally bankrupt country with no regard for our neighbors and as a result, ourselves. Everyone should read about the end of the Roman empire.
