It was just announced that Trump will be attending the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game on Saturday along with his former acting AG, Matt Whitaker, a former Hawkeye player. I will be there in the press box and am not enthused about this. Do you think he will be recognized with an official announcement at the game, and should he? I mean, I get it that he's a former president. But he's also facing 91 criminal indictments. Personally, I think they should read off every one of the charges against him....just to be fair.

Dan, to your query to Chris...here's the reality of Iowa demos and the country:

The demographics of

Iowa - 85.2% White

U.S - 59.6% White

(58% of overall White voters went for Trump --- so expect a shout out to the Defendant-In-Chief at the FB game.)

Iowa - 4.1% Hispanic

U.S. - 18.9% Hispanic

Iowa - 3.6% Black

U.S. - 12.6% Black

Iowa - 2.5% Asian

U.S. - 7.2% Asian

Iowa - 5.6% Two or More

U.S. - 18.9% Two or More

Perfect example of why Iowa has way too much early sway over American politics.

I agree that Iowa has too much political power for its small population. I would be all for eliminating the electoral college, even if it would make my state irrelevant.

I agree with eliminating the Electoral College.

Whether it ever served a purpose other than a political tradeoff for Constitutional support from small population states is debatable.

Surely there must be some Native American/Indigenous people also!

There are, but the percentages are extremely low when adding together Native Americas, Hawai'ian Islanders, Samoans, etc.

The polls: who are they actually reaching? Are all/most done by calling home phones and let’s face it, nobody under 75 answers a home phone anymore. Are any polls done differently?

Agree, I'm a few years under 75 and don't have a landline. Who is answering these surveys?

How big a factor do you think abortion will be in the 2024 general election? Is Dobbs setting Dems up for wins in places that have been reliably red in recent years?

What do you think will be the long term impact on the Texas GOP if Ken Paxton is found guilty? Can I say I really miss Molly Ivens and Ann Richards when this type of story from Texas appears?

I'm troubled by the shenanigans of Robin Vos and the WI GOP in seeking to impeach the recently elected Justice who altered the balance of the WI Supreme Court. This episode seems of a piece with the "no holds bar" approach of McConnell re Garland and Trump re fake electors. How far can these trends go? What safeguards are in place to prevent such abuse of the process? Is the only remedy to "vote the bastards out"?

You mentioned getting recognized at airports, so I am curious- how often do you get recognized? Do people often come up to you and talk politics?

I have been listening to the book ‘Tightrope’ by Nicholas D. Kristin. And my summary so far is: it is about how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer with the help of the laws passed by the federal government from the 70s - the 90s. Why isn’t anyone talking about this?!!!!

Proves once again that overly White states get way too much attention in primaries and become afterthoughts in the national elections.

When are editors going to quit using "formerly known as Twitter"? It is up to the corporation that changes its name to advertise the change. People who are on Twitter know about the change. Those that are not could care less.

In terms of President Biden's low approval rating when looking at the likely 2024 race between Biden and Trump, do you think his approval rating may change amongst Democrats (and Independents) as the campaigns really get going? I think that a lot of Dems and Indies disapprove right now because they hope someone else will be the Democratic nominee, but perhaps once it's clear that it will be Biden, they will rally around him?

If it's okay with you, I'll ask another question:

Would love to get your take on what's going on in Wisconsin with impeaching the newly elected judge. Given current gerrymandering, will this ever boomerang back on the GOP?

We hear so much about Hunter Biden being accused of trying to use the Biden name and his father's position as VP as influence in some of his business dealings. Didn't the Trump kids do something similar? --Ivana getting patents (as I recall) in China and selling her jewelry line online playing off of the Trump name and her father's position as Pres. Didn't the boys also try to monetize the Trump name based on Dad's position when he was in office? I didn't pay much attention to it at the time because there were so many worse things to worry about and the Trumps were already monetizing their name in their business before Dad got elected. I'm not hearing anything in any commentary about them in this regard, but it seems to me that Hunter Biden is being accused of a similar, though less blatant, type of activity that the Trump kids did more abundantly, directly and openly while their dad was in office. Or am I remembering wrong?

Regarding the group in Colorado attempting to use the 14th amendment to bar Trump from being on the ballot in Colorado: I applaud the effort. But, I think it'll go no where, for a variety of reasons (never been tested before, at least not in this way; some question as to whether wording does or does not make it applicable to a former President; how do you prove he was an insurrectionist if he isn't--yet--convicted of such?). Your take?
