Why is Joe Biden's approval rating at an all-time low after his impressive and dangerous visit to Israel and an excellent oval office speech, not to mention all of the other things he's accomplished? I don't get it. What does the poor man have to do?
Everyone here is absorbed by the current political news, we are fascinated by it whether it thrills or appalls. But I wonder, and I'd like your opinion on this, how much this interest actually extends into the great voting public and much impact political knowledge has overall. My instinct is that it is a lot less than I would like to see and that most folks don't really make voting decisions based on analysis but much more on emotional feel.
What are the odds that Gaetz gets primaried for being the ringleader of this nightmare? (I know they love him at The Villages, but this is ridiculous.)
Four down in Georgia. Meadows testifying in DC. Who’s next in GA, apart from the local officials? Eastman? Clark? Maybe Rudy?! Does Rudy declare bankruptcy at some point? Not that it’ll help his legal situation.
Any chance that 4 current Republicans will jump ship and decide to become independents, thereby making an exact split D/R and those 4 would end up being deciding votes for everything?
How do you think Mike Johnson will handle the upcoming Nov deadline for the budget? Another continuing resolution? And, no matter what happens with doing a CR or not, don't House Republicans HAVE to eventually compromise with Democrats? What has to happen before they will consider a compromise - a painful government shutdown?
Chris, what do you think of the claim that Matt Gaetz was the winner of the 22-day Speaker vacancy? Sure, that's what he claims. For personal animus, he precipitated 22 days of public internecine fighting amongs his GOP colleagues. After ousting McCarthy, Gaetz helped Jordan knee cap Scalise. Jordan forced 3 public nasty increasingly humiliating ballots and bullying tactics denounced publicly by his colleagues. Any data on opinion of Gaetz by constituents in his district" of Jordan? Both Gaetz and Rep. Bob Good from VA used the same phrase incredulous at the 20, 22 and 25 GOP colleagues who publicly voted against Jordan, who they termed, "the most popular Representative in Congress?" Most popular by what index? Appearances on Fox (555) and Steve Bannon's War Room to which Reps. Gaetz and Mace sprinted to after they voted to oust McCarthy? Jamie Dupree reported that Members of Congress would trash talk about colleagues walking past them as they gave interviews in the hallways outside the GOP Conference meetings. How much trust exists amond GOPers for the voluntary cooperation that is the foundation of Congress agreeing to anything?
Do you think as a nation, we’ve become desensitized to breaking news? What I mean is stories that previously would have been the conversation at every dinner table now are just more noise? It’s become a defense mechanism to brush aside big stories because they seem to happen every day. The effect is that the bad guy in the latest breaking news, often Trump or the GOP, can brush it off and claim no one cares. I get it to some degree, and I’m guessing it’s a big part of Trump’s strategy. It sure doesn’t seem like a very good place to be for those of us who, you know, believe in the rule of law.
What do you know about the many, many lawyers working for Trump? I think I have read that some are no longer doing any work because they haven't gotten paid. There are the lawyers taking plea deals, will they be able to practice law any more? Maybe they didn't before and were just commentators on FOX. Can he get any new legal defence or has the fund raising helped with his legal bills?
Can you explain the logic many republicans use to blame the democrats for the dysfunction and inability to pick a speaker? I have heard it several times but without basis....how do they do it??
Sorry, Chris, have no interest in sports. And I'm in Greater Boston.
My question is strictly political: what is it going to take to get the press to start reporting on the obvious mental deterioration of Trump?

I’m a firm believer in the axiom follow the money. Are big donors rebelling against the house republicans over their failure to elect a speaker?

Could we please nominate Liz Cheney as speaker of the house??

Crystal Ball time!

what is your worst possible scenerio if Trump becomes President? And will we survive?

So are you a quarter-zip guy? https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/fashion/2023/10/23/quarter-zip-golf-office/
And did you use the code?????

I have a question about aesthetics. Why is the gavel used by the speaker of the house of representatives such a puny, pale, pasty thing?
