I'm curious what you think of ranked choice voting. On the one hand, I get that for many (most?) people it's confusing as hell. Yet, I can't help but believe it could (would?) soften the extreme polarization between candidates advancing to general elections. Do you think it would be a good thing to be used widely? Do you think it ever would be? I'd welcome a few thoughts on a Friday, or even a devoted piece, if you were so inclined.

I feel like the resistance to Trump is at an all-time low. And those who do speak out are being ignored and often scorned for their opinions. Meanwhile, Trump is building momentum to change the country, and the world in his image. My guess is you’ll pass over this question in favor of something less dire, but I am genuinely frightened at where we are headed. I don’t have confidence that there are enough people to continue standing up to Trump again and again. Do you feel just as confident in the strength of our systems today as you were in November, or even last week?

Chris - love what you’re doing and hopefully you’ll be able to keep up with the break neck pace over the next 4 years! We certainly need you in these times.

My question is what’s your honest opinion on the Musk “salute?” Do you believe it’s all one big misunderstanding or there’s something more there? Thanks again!

Give me one reason why I should have faith that the GOP will stand up to the shit show of an administration over the next 4 years.

I doubt that the GOP even exists as an independent entity at this time.

With Trump's actions in his first few days we knew he would piss off Democrats, but were some of his actions starting to cross lines that the GOP were not expecting? Do you see some Senators and maybe a few Representatives start to push back at some point as some actions impact red state priorities? I am thinking the impact of the Infrastructure Act halt or potential impact to Medicare & drug price reductions. He won't listen to CA or NY complain, but when Alaska, Texas or Wyoming start to see bridge and road projects stop or senior citizens gripe about medical costs (and egg prices) does it make a difference?

I have to admit, that despite my ardent disdain for the current POTUS, I would be thrilled if all of the information pertaining to the three major assassinations in the sixties was actually released. I really have a difficult time grappling with why the information continues to be deemed too sensitive to be released. Doesn't that merely add to a possible nothing burger alure of secrecy that just makes it seem more incendiary than it actually is? Do you think the contents might have the ability to break through the news cycle enough to be fully digested by a large group of folks?

As a person who has been open about your faith journey, what do you personally make of the Bishop Mariann Budde sermon story? It was predictable that Trump would react defiantly. I mean he beefed with the Pope in his first term if I remember right. I was interested/discouraged reading the angry responses from people in the more conservative evangelical community. Has watching the behaviors of different segments of Christianity during the Trump era impacted your own faith?

Where do you think we are in terms of the individual likelihood of confirmation of Trump’s top/key cabinet nominees?

Do you think Trump cares if RFK Jr gets confirmed for HHS? I mean, he made a deal to nominate RFK in exchange for his endorsement and he held up his end of the deal. Arguably no skin off Trump's nose if the Senate (hopefully) rejects him.

Arrested Development was about a dysfunctional family with criminal business dealings and a somewhat stupid father overlord…sound familiar? My question is if you had to assign one character from arrested development to any individual in trumps family/inner circle, who would play what role?

Is there anything to Trump’s statement that the Jan 6th committee destroyed any documents or meeting notes or anything?

Sure. He was right that Biden lost his marbles and Kamala would lose the election.

Two questions:

Trump will attempt to shut down Substack at some point. What is your plan for that? and

How many House Republicans are impacted by the developing Hutchinson stexting scandal and do you think that Democrats blackmailing them over this is the way to stop their insane fake investigations?

OK, a second question, Hegsweth should have clearly failed by his own often stated standard, you know, meritocracy, but he got the job anyways. I am yelling at the TV at Dems to stop pointing out what an immoral, boozing, misogynist he is (cuz it doesn’t matter, people don’t care, they voted for it and he doesn’t care either). Don’t you think every Senator should have beaten his lack of qualifications into the ground at the hearings, over and over again, and all the future hearings, in every tv interview, constantly, for all the other unqualified nominees. Yeah, we can buy the GOP Hypocrisy t-shirts on line, and we can complain that the desire for meritocracy is total BS to them, but I think it is a necessary counter to the attack on DEI as often as we can point it out. Sure, take away DEI so your son or daughter or you could have gotten the job if they were the best qualified candidate, but, you know, the rich kid with friends in high places who can’t tie his shoes without a YouTube video explaining it, will get that job every time. Just look at what those DC GOP folks are doing — giving all the jobs to their rich and connected buddies, Yep, that’s their version of “meritocracy” (rich, connected, pretty) and they don’t give a shit about you or your family.

Hypothetically, if Trump became speaker of the house in 2029, the president and Veep resign, could Trump serve a 3rd term?

Have you read Nick Troiano's The Primary Solution and what are your thoughts on his ideas of improving our electoral process. I am a huge fan of not awarding electors on an all or nothing basis but rather using the Nebraska approach. I am also a fan of increasing the size of the House of Representatives so that it more accurately represents the electorate.
