I’m in San Diego nowadays. Welcome to America’s Finest City. The Padres play the Nationals at Petco today at 6:40, and tomorrow. 1:10 on Wednesday. Great stadium and the Pads are contenders, sorta. You can take the trolley! Hitting the beach is always a good idea. Tacos at The Sandbar at Mission Beach 👍

Exciting week!

Part of me thinks you should do an invite-only livestream but I can understand the opportunity for getting more attention from outsiders too.

RE San Diego: Go to the zoo, duh! Have a great time :)

When my kids and I visited San Diego, we loved the USS Midway Museum. I highly recommend that if you have time.

Yes, must get on the Midway!

I second Betsy’s recommendation. I’m not a big zoo-goer but the San Diego zoo is spectacular!

We have vacationed in the San Diego area for decades. For kids, the Zoo and Sea World are great. The Zoo is in Balboa Park, which is one of the great public parks in America and has several good museums. For younger kids,Lego Land is great. Petco Park is a great place to see a baseball game. La Jolla Shores area is a great beach town with several good restaurants. Our favorite is Piatti. Lots of good culture. Check the schedule at Humphreys By The Way and the Jacobs Shell. Belly Up in Solana Beach is a club with some interesting acts. We saw Johnny and June about the Cash/Carter families at the La Jolla Playhouse. Great performances and venue.

If you’re able to, please walk us through the links etc. for us to watch your election commentary, but by Wednesday.

This may not be necessary, but I’m still feeling burned by the primary debate I tried and failed to watch online a few months back. I waited til the last second and was not able to get it to work. I don’t want to miss your show!

C-Level Lounge on Harbor Island has a great view of marine activity. Cruise ships coming in and out, sailboats galore on a nice day, big honking navy destroyers. Terrific at sundown.

A lot of my SD faves have been already mentioned - agree that a baseball game at Petco would be awesome, and you can walk around downtown where there are a lot of good restaurants (Basic Pizza across Petco Park, La Puerta for good Mexican food, Cali or Ghirardelli's ice cream shops for dessert) and good walks. From there you can venture into Seaport Village with also a lot of good restaurants with a great view of the water & Coronado bridge - old police station converted into shops has the original jail cells that you can visit. Both downtown and Seaport Village have a good spot for coffee called Spill the Beans. Balboa Park is amazing. La Jolla Shores - yes - and also La Jolla Cove. Old Town Cafe - yes! - butbalso just a walk around Old Town is very fun. If you do go to the Midway (fun!) The Fish Market restaurant offers good seafood & sushi. Naked Cafe in Solana Beach is a good spot for breakfast (tends to get busy, tho). Little Italy is a fun walk too - again with a lot of good Italian restaurants (in addition to Filippi's). And for a more latino vibe, the main Avenue in Barrio Logan is also a short, but good walk that provides a cultural experience with beautiful murals under the bridge - ¡Salud! Tacos is the best. Enjoy!!

San Diego has a lot of great things to do. If you're inclined, go to La Jolla and see if there are seals out on the beach. That's also where Dr Seuss lived.

Have a great time!

You didn't say what part of San Diego - it's a pretty big city/county - but if you make it up north here to Oceanside, be sure to see the "Top Gun House" (Charlie/Kelly McGillis' place in the movie). It's been completely refurbed and converted into a pie shop - they serve tasty, personal size pies in various flavors. There are several coffee shops within a stone's throw, and for a nice dinner the nearby 333 Pacific offers some fine dining with an ocean view. If you're able to make a day of it, the Coaster commuter train from the Santa Fe Depot will drop you off in downtown Oceanside with some spectacular views of the coast (see what they did there?) along the way. Everything is within walking distance from the train (Amtrak is another option if you prefer a bit more comfort). Regardless of what you decide to do, enjoy your time here!
