The only thing I think that has ended is the democrats ability to win this election. The events in PA elevated trump to a level he could only dream of attaining. I'm reading comments from folks that put him on the same pedestal as Jesus.

This terrible event has solidified the need for trump in so many peoples eyes. The country needs a STRONG MAN to rid us of this evil.

Who looks stronger, Biden or trump?

I'm sorry Dems, but this is a losing cause right now.

I don't see how the party recovers. Trump is going to be showing off his ear wound every chance he can.

Is it right or fair? Nope.

But that iconic fist bump picture is the photo of the decade.

Say goodbye America.

He has his base - but he has always had his base. That's not enough. Many people realize it is his rhetoric that caused this. He's been calling for violence the entire time. Also, it was a registered Republican who is 20 so only registered a couple of years ago.

Yes, Dawn! Trump has been calling for violence for many years. It has now occurred...again. I suspect that, come November, the shooting incident doesn't move any votes. We should never underestimate the ability of the GOPers to say really stupid stuff and do really bad things at their convention this week.

1. None of them believe he was a republican. They say he only registered R because of his parents.

2. He is a supporter of Biden. Look, he gave $ 15 or 20 bucks to him. I know, crazy, but, well.

3. trump is a man of peace and God. He never said any of those words you heard him say.

4. Sane intelligent folks know all that you are saying. Yet, here we are. The insane outnumber the sane and an attempted assassination ramps them up to high gear.

That was before he could register to vote. If he was a Biden supporter, there would be no reason to register Republican.

I share this fear.

I think with Trump as president we very likely lose the Senate , too. I am going to give my donations to house members, so the Trump GOP won't have complete carte blanche.

Well Chris I'm sure you are right ...but at this point just seeing him on TV makes me sick. This is probably the last straw for me as a democrat... I don't care! They are all a bunch of cowards .. get him off the stage ..Even if he somehow manages a miracle and wins.. he will probably have to step down and then we have Kamala ..She better stop laughing all the time. Here we have Trump giddy and gleeful about what happened ! The whole thing is one big giant mess. If Biden loses and he drags down the Senate and the congress with him ..that is the worst sin of all.

I am worried about the low information "swing" voter, but I can't see Democrats saying, "Oh, I was going to vote against Trump but now that he's been shot at he's got my support."

As with the debate, let's see what the polls look like in a few weeks.

People like you and I vote more on issues, but swing voters are more swayed by image. The defiant Trump looks like a bad ass, while Biden looks like a corpse. Given Trump's baggage, he has a ceiling so it's unlikely to become a landslide. But the attempt on his life will spur people who supported Trump already to definitely vote, and it will attract new support (esp. from young men) who like the defiance of Trump. So Trump is stronger than the polls suggest, while Biden is weaker because many of his voters are lukewarm. On a personal level, I voted for Biden last time but won't again. He clearly has Parkinson's or some other mental issue and he betrayed his promise to be a bridge.

The base gives Biden 35% of the vote.

Biden is our President and should remain our President. Everything Biden said this weekend reinforces who he is and what he believes. His empathy is real.

Sigh. Yes, he is empathy personified.

Sadly, right now, in light of this weekends events, the masses do not want empathy.

They want to get back at the libs who did this to their man. They want blood. They want torture. They want retribution.

They want EVERYTHING that trump told them he was going to do and was going to happen to him.

They see him as the prophet who predicted this.

In sales, they say 90% of buying is done on emotion, only 10% on common sense.

Guess who is winning the "emotion" wars this year?

This is what independent never Trump, Haley voters wanted to see. A normal, pro democracy president. If the RNC Convention spouts hate, it will help Biden. If Trump tones down his rhetoric, right wing republicans will flee Trump. Which will help Biden. Democrats and Republicans espousing unity hasn’t happened in decades. Since 9/11 perhaps. I think that politically it’s that kind of moment. Though obviously 9/11 changed America too

It has been a Big Brother style blitz, very Orwellian and I haven’t watched any of it, just newspapers and an occasional clip.

I wonder if affects VP pick at all. If now Trump will feel like he going to win in even more of a walk, does that mean he picks Burgum. Or maybe unity becomes a thing (I know, funny) and picks Scott? Idk

Biden might indeed be able to end the effort to remove him it if he continues in this vein. He should have been out there a lot more before the debate, and the reasons why remain largely unknown, and that's one reason why the debate fail was so powerful. Now, however, in the most regrettable and worst way possible, Biden's debate performance is no longer the most memorable and shocking event of this election campaign and given the short memories of the electorate, I believe he has a good opportunity to put the debate behind him if he continues to perform well. Whether that helps his election chances is an open question, but so much about this election cycle is uncertain.

I just want to know where the campaign has been? The Detroit rally was great. But. You deploy your stump speech in July? I realize the gettable part of the electorate doesn’t tune in until after the conventions anyway, but having rallies daily in swing states doesn’t hurt before then. Doesn’t hurt to practice.

This incumbent comes to the poker table with a straight flush hand of accomplishments, facing an opponent with a pair of one-eyed Jacks and lots of bluff. And this incumbent is looking like a loser in how he’s played thus far.

Well, I honestly believe the Media's constant attention to Trump has caused much of this. However, I noticed that the Media is now, finally giving attention to Biden. 🤞

If a poker player has a straight flush, he should know that somebody holding a pair of jacks can't possibly beat you.
