Old political heads remember this:
That’s the late great Tim Russert during the 2000 election night — making clear that the presidency would be decided by just a single state: Florida. (He was right!)
If Tim was alive today — and, man, we would be a better world if he was — he’d break out that whiteboard and write: “Pennsylvania Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania.”
In the last few days, there has been a flood of polling and legal activity in the state — reflective of its status as the center of the political world.
Let’s start on the polling front. Among the best and more credible polls released over the last few days, here’s the margin between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris:

The 538 polling average in Pennsylvania looks like this:
So, so close.
And that closeness is attracting the lawyers for both parties — already. On Wednesday alone, five(!) election-related lawsuits were either filed or decided, a sign of the legal fight to come both in the final days of the election and after the votes have been cast.
If you only have the time or energy to follow a single state in these last days, make it Pennsylvania. Tell me who wins there and I’ll tell you who wins the presidency.
