So true. And if I were Dems every chance I had, when in public - doing radio or TV hits - I'd say something to this effect:

We as Democrats understand where the power lies in this Administration, we'd love to meet w/Musk as we have ideas on bla bla bla.....

Or......

We'd love some factime w the real decision-makers, we are ready to meet with Musk to start getting this economy rolling again.

You get the idea.

Right. Michael Steele was on MSMBC last night and said Dems should ignore Musk. ( Talk about out of touch! ) The Dems should hang Musk, his kooky, oddball demeanor, his nerdly teen squad, and his shadow presidency around Trumps neck like a concrete necklace.

I big time agree!

I think I said it the other day. Musk’s campaign contribution has led him to believe he has purchased a country!

Hopefully, this will make Trump wake up and realize this was not a wise idea.

I’m for getting rid of both of them, not to mention ALL of his Cabinet picks!

There’s a third reason that the TIME cover will annoy Trump…it is 100% true, and he knows it. Trump doesn't care who does the work as long as he gets the credit, but seeing ol’ Elon behind the resolute desk….uff.

I wonder if Time did this BECAUSE of the Trump-attention phenomenon Chris describes?

Expand full comment

Exactly my thought! The only thing that might have made it more irritating to Trump would be if they had put a Diet Coke in his hand and a Diet Coke button on the desk.

HA! One of the very very few smart things I’ve ever heard Trump say was “I’ve never seen a thin person drinking a Diet Coke”

Agree, but I just wonder what damage Elon will do before the chasm. It has only been 18 days. Sigh.

Chris, I agree with you. The bromance will end within 6 months.

In the meantime Musk can do a whole helluva lot of damage, sadly.

Too true

I am also in the less than 6 months camp, and guess who will get whacked on the head with the blame stick bigly!

I give it less time. This thing is moving fast, but folks are starting to catch up. And the reflection in the polls is already starting. I just hope it ends in a bang and not a whimper.

Oh it will be band for sure.

I wish that I could be a fly on the wall to observe Trump's hissy fit over Musk depicted as President behind the Resolute Desk on Time's cover.

I dunno, it could be dangerous there with plates of ketchup flying

Is this really real? I don’t trust anything I see anymore.

The cover is on Time’s own post on X.

I agree and can't stop laughing. LOL Of course, I think Trump has been bought by Musk so he might not have a choice to endure this.

Scary thought. And begs the question, was it worse when Russia owned Trump or is it worse now that Musk does? Surprisingly, I'm leaning Musk.

LOL! Seriously NOTHING is funny in this entire scenario but that at least deserves a giggle for a second.

I think President Trump realizes that this is a deliberate attempt by a lot of people to try and get his goat with the comments about 'President Musk' and, for once, he's not rising to the bait. He (Trump that is) is getting all the attention he needs to feel validated. Musk isn't running in front of microphones, he just tweets on X. And he's putting point on the board for the Trump administration. This is just wishful thinking that they are going to break up at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole "President Musk" thing ends up driving Trump to be even *more* buddy-buddy with Musk, at least for a while. Trump's a contrarian, and even if he's not clued-in enough to see it himself, the smarter people around him, like Vance and Vought, are going to tell him, "They're just trying to get your goat," and once Trump believes that, he'll swing hard the other way, just to make sure the "radical left" and the "fake news" know they're not going to get one over on HIM. I'd be willing to bet that in the next couple of weeks, we see Trump doing public appearances with Musk, showing that their bromance is stronger than ever, just to flip the bird to the media and everyone else who's been pushing the "President Musk" line.

Of course behind the scenes, it's probably still getting into Trump's head, so once he feels he's sufficiently stuck it to the media and they've moved on to his latest outrage, he might quietly sideline Musk behind the scenes. On the other hand, while Musk is a nut, he's smarter than Trump, so he might know how to play Trump well enough to keep on his good side.

Exactly.

It's hard to know exactly how Trump regards Elon Musk as their relationship is pretty unique. Trump knew Musk was rich, successful and high profile before he brought him on the team. And as you say Trump likely regards Musk as a net positive even if Musk does get a lot of publicity.

Eventually Musk is going to move on but whether this magazine cover speeds that up is debatable.

Chris Chris Chris,

Looks like the Trump administration is getting to you a lil bit (not to the degree of wacky Elizabeth Warren or Chuck Schumer) but on some level you are looking (albeit weakly) to poke President Trump. Understandably these next 4 years are gonna be tough, for those on the left, but this is really some weak stuff, feelings hurt over some Time Magazine?!? 😂

Expand full comment

We're talking about a guy who created fake Time magazine covers with himself as Time's Person of the Year AND groused to anyone who would listen when Greta Thunberg (very justifiably so) and not him was PotY in 2019. The Time cover is bigly in his little mind, and Elon being on the cover in an image representing him as the president has Trump fuming. Totally agree with Chris on this call.

There are none so blind as a MAGAt who refuses to see.

I hope Trump and Muck come out side by side and do a press conference together, hold up the cover and have a good chuckle about it. I can only imagine the meltdown. Chris's post is just a projection of the left's greatest hope right now.

Sort of side tracked here but Israel allows female soldiers. When Trump takes over Gaza (NOT) is he going to change that? Lol!! NOT!!! And what about the religious men that go to Yeshiva and refuse to serve in the military? Will he force them to provide coverage and security on his golf course? More importantly, will we change from a Rabbinical court system to a Trump GOOPERS system? Will Johnson demand only Christians be allowed at the resort with non kosher food on the menu? How does Netty baby plan on handling these "issues"?
