I agree with many of the others that Heather Cox Richardson is a must morning read. I would also suggest Joyce Vance for the most insightful and accurate legal take on American politics and politicians. For an insightful "big picture" view of what is happening in the world, I highly recommend Noahpinion by Noah Smith.
100% agree on Jay Kuo @ The Status Kuo: he frequently writes on the same events/topics as Chris, but with a slightly different point of view. Joyce Vance is brilliant and her legal analysis, as a former federal prosecutor, really makes everything clear (and with all of Trump’s indictments and charges across multiple jurisdictions, that is truly a challenge!)
I read Stephen Beschloss, Robert Reich, The Warning, everyone at The Bulwark, Mary Trump, Kareem Al Jabbar, all the editorial cartoons, and more. I'm a center-left Dem if it matters. These subscriptions are going to bankrupt me! It would be lovely if we could pay one (lower) price for all our favorites.
In addition to Heather and Kareem, I read Adam Kinzinger, The Liberal Patriot, Chris Riback, Slow Boring and Persuasion, oh and Notes from the Middleground. Off of Substack, The Dispatch is great.
My favorite Substack is the one I work on. Mine. That's Another Fine Mess. It ranges from snarky views on things political that I have to laugh at before I start throwing things; more serious discussion of political items; discussions of movies, sometime publication of my old movie scripts (paid subscribers only); presentations on World War II history (I write best-selling World War II aviation history). The readers are a very cool bunch (always surprising me, for which I am always grateful).
I start every morning with Heather Cox Richardson’s “Letters from an American”.
Heck yeah, doesn't everyone,?
Agree 💯 with reading Heather’s Substack
If it's an eventful day, I usually wake up and check in the middle of the night, to do if it's dropped yet.
You’re brave. I’d never get back to sleep!
That is a problem sometimes!
First one I look for every morning, or last, if I'm up late. Heather makes me wish I spent more time on history in school.
Agreed. This is one of the best.
Check out Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
I love his posts. I look forward to them every week.
Second this. KAJ is amazing.
Easy...Heather Cox Richardson
"Letters from an American" by Heather Cox Richardson is a never miss for me.
So what by Chris Cillizza!

Sorry, also should mention Kareem Abdul Jabbar

The readers who recommend Heather Cox Richardson and Kareem are right - I'm a long-time reader of both.
Other than Club Cillizza, Ruth Ben-Ghiat and Heather Cox Richardson. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has excellent takes and sits a little left of me politically.
