It is remarkable. I can't stand the guy. He left office in disgrace while twice impeached. Incited an insurrection against our democracy, found to be a rapist and a convicted felon. And yet people still like him. I don't get it. Uninformed and uneducated, or people are ok with racism, misogyny, and bigotry.

Not ok. They embrace those traits. They want them.

Please, continue with this attitude.

This guy assembles an incoherent sentence (Uninformed and uneducated, or people are ok with racism, misogyny, and bigotry) about uneducated people.

no theory, just a fact--- most americans are woefully uninformed, lack critical thinking skills and think bad things will happen to others, not themselves...

Well just wait….there will be enough bad to go around, even to those who think they’ll be spared….

Besides the theories below about uninformed, not thinking voters (who largely think they were voting to get lower prices on eggs), there is the coterie that quite frankly, likes what he was selling - get rid of the undocumented workers! (never mind they do jobs Americans won't) - raise the tariffs - yay! (believing trump's lies that the exporting country will pay them) - take us back to the mid-50's, when white men ruled and everyone else knew their place, be it in the kitchen or in the closet - buying into the Bannon promoted "we have to destroy it all!" (with no idea about how it will be re-built - people might notice when there is no federal response to emergencies, or Social security checks don't come).

There is a problem when illegal immigrants do jobs citizens won’t do. That has more to say with citizens than the value of illegal immigrants. I grew up in the bread basket of the country, that very district that is the last one to report. I picked peaches, knocked almonds and picked tomatoes. I worked along side those immigrants. They were indeed the hardest working people I saw. That this type of labor is beneath someone is an indictment and embarrassment on our country.

Theory? People are ill and misinformed and have short memories for just how god awful things were when he was president. And polls are polls and are seldom worth a damn. Let him have his honeymoon. When the direct and collateral damage he and his inept imbeciles he's nominating and his closest advisers like Bannon and Miller actual start doing things, the honeymoon will be over. He'll give tax cuts to those who don't need them, make cuts to discretionary spending (and possibly Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security - I mean he said he wouldn't but he's not known for being honest - ever) like clueless Musk and Ramaswamy suggest, and then the real devastation will set in. But hey, he's already taking credit for the economy that a month ago he was bashing as worst ever and he's done absolutely nothing. Kick in those tariffs and watch prices go up by more than the tariff amount and then ask people how they feel. Until then, this is meaningless drivel.

Trump has essentially disappeared from public view. He ran away from a second Kamala debate, canceled his 60 Minutes interview, refused to answer questions from the press and he has been out of sight since the election. No Trump, no drama, higher poll numbers. To the extent there is a honeymoon aspect, it will come to a crashing end when the tax cuts for the rich and big business roll out.

But Kamala didn't give enough interviews, right?

You want a comment?

I'll give you a damn comment.

Americans are absolutely out of their fucking minds.

They have no clue what is coming at them.

They voted for cheap eggs and they're getting Stephen Miller, Bannon, and Project 2025.

They wanted a freaking change, they're gonna get it.

They wanted a Bro culture. They're getting it.

They wanted all of "them" deported, they will get it.

They want law and order, but they have no clue how that looks to MAGA.

They don't want trans folks around them, who cares if they kill themselves.

They want a Christian nation, sorry if that's not your flavor.

They want a white nation. Sucks to be you if you're Latino or Black and voted for this. See all those Black Latino cabinet members? Sucks to be you if you're a woman and don't want to be a breeding platform to be mounted at will.

But you know all that and still describe him as favorable.

I totally understand the cynicism. But as pessimistic as my friends and family accuse me of being, Trump isn't going to do even half of this stuff. Sure, he'll try. But most of it won't happen -- at least, not to the fear-inducing levels most liberals are worried about.

The things you can count on: major tax cuts (most of which will benefit the tippy-top), a tariff 'experiment' (where Trump will pull back and negotiate apart from his harsher rhetoric), and an increased deportations akin to his first term. There's no way they will deport all the construction and agricultural illegals that make our economy function.

Remember -- Trump and the GOP are after the PERCEPTION of success, not actual success. You can do a lot to fool the masses.

Can’t wait to see him at the rededication of Notre Dame in Paris! Wonder who he will push out of the way for a photo op? Did he invite himself or did Macron invite him?

As to the honeymoon, I am taking a “wait and see” attitude. Hope the Senate holds the line on his Cabinet picks. Disastrous choices!

My theory -- many liberals and Democrats have "checked out" of politics for a while to address their own mental health. So I would think most are not responding to polling right now, hence a somewhat skewed Trump bump.

That said, I also think many people are simply trying to make the best of what they view as a bad situation. They didn't vote for Trump, but are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt... for a little while, anyway.

Yes! That’s me. I have not watched one newscast or read a news article since the election. I haven’t even read any of Chris’s pieces, just the headlines and comments. The only way to keep my peace of mind.

As for the post-election poll, a large number of non-MAGA Americans believe the myth sold by Mark Burnett via The Apprentice - that Trump is a brilliantly successful businessman - and fully expect him to return prices to what they were in 2019 and half energy costs. So they are very pleased with a victory that they expect to benefit from. And there are other non-MAGAts who agree with Bannon that the federal government needs to be burned to the ground.

With ill informed supporters Trump won't lose support until people are affected directly, like losing their insurance through medicaid or ACA. Maybe his mass deportation will be enough of a mess to decrease his support a little. His tariffs causing inflation should also bring down his approval number.

I think you are back to polls are junk again. For a few different reasons. A CNN analyst pointed out that that the depression Democrats are in have reduced their engagement in answering polls and increased the engagement of Republicans. So that’s what we might be seeing. It’s something to consider anyway.

Secondly, Nate Silver’s rant against Biden when he pardoned Hunter clearly demonstrates anti Democratic bias. Not good when you run an independent polling company and tweak the algorithm to “remove skew” etc. you just can’t trust what the heck is going on. It may be correct but be correct accidentally. It’s not truth it’s a poll.

Finally, while democracy have elected a man who’s been indicted and convicted of crimes, because his supporters looked the other way, it doesn’t give Trump the right to do what he likes. And with an election so close, he’s certainly doesn’t have a mandate. Provided he and Republicans follow the Constitution, they can enact laws. But the shenanigans he’s currently engaging in to put flawed characters in his cabinet while bypassing a legitimate confirmation process undermines his legitimacy. And it’s crazy to me that he does this because he was actually elected. Does he not understand that? lol
