We are in the midst of a blitz of executive actions — and legal reactions.
On Monday alone, five different courts put on hold five different executive orders or actions by President Donald Trump.
Rather than just declare a “Constitutional crisis” and run around like a chicken with its head cut off, I reached out to a Constitutional law expert to explain where we are and where we’re going.
That’s what I do here. I don’t tell you to panic because panic is good for my business. I explain stuff so you can understand it better. And when I am not an expert in a certain area, I reach out to someone who is. Calling balls and strike no matter what uniform the batter at the plate is wearing. If you want to support that mission, you can do it here:
My friend
writes the Substack where he explains and analyzes the Supreme Court’s actions and the broader legal ramifications of various policies. His Substack is invaluable. And, now more than ever, having someone who is able to speak from a position of authority about what Trump is doing (and how the courts will react) is critically important.
I had the chance to talk to Steve for nearly an hour on Tuesday afternoon about Trump’s flooding of the legal zone and how the courts will react. Anyone can watch that conversation for FREE above.
Among the topics we covered:
How Trump’s attempted expansion of the executive’s power is different in both kind and degree from what past presidents have done
How Trump’s legal strategy isn’t to ignore the courts but rather to pressure them to get favorable rulings
The built-in advantages the courts have as they wade through Trump’s many executive orders and actions
Why Steve doesn’t believe the Supreme Court is (or will be) a rubber stamp for whatever Trump wants
Why Congress’ abdication of its power as a co-equal branch of government is catastrophic for our democratic system
Thank you
, , , , , and many others for tuning in. I am going to be doing LOTS more of these conversations with people, like , who make us all smarter. Download the Substack app so you can check out future conversations live.
