The Morning: All signs are pointing against Joe Biden

Three things happened over the last 24 hours that may mean the end is near for President Joe Biden.

1. He got Covid-19, forcing him off the campaign trial and into isolation at his home in Delaware

2. News broke that the most powerful Democrats in the House (Hakeem Jeffries) and the Senate (Chuck Schumer) have both privately signaled to Biden that he needs to step aside

3. CNN and the New York Times reported that Biden is now more “receptive” to the idea that he might need to exit the race

Those developments make the next 48 hours critical. Biden will, in theory, have some time to reflect on the race (and his legacy). It’s now clear the most powerful Democrats in Congress are unified in their belief he can’t win. The ball is in his court.
